Note to readers: This story takes me through a journey. As the story unfolds, you can’t help but fall in love with the humungous dog and the hiccups it brings into the household. Scared of thunder and lightning, he’d create a riot at the very hint of it. He is a Golden Retriever and clearly fails to understand what the humans expect of him. The story is written in the first person perspective of the author, which makes it easier to fall in love with the brat of a dog called Marley. It falls into the autobiographical genre, but hardly felt like one as I felt the pages slip past me speedily. ‘ Marley & Me: Life and Love with the World’s Worst Dog’ is a New York Times bestselling novel by journalist John Grogan. While I myself saw the movie prior to reading the book, readers can be assured that they won’t be losing anything from reading the novel after experiencing it on the big screen. A breezy read and something that can be finished off in a single reading, this book is one of the rare instances where the film adaption is far better than its written counterpart.
